Global AI programs: choose credits, free allowances, startup support and affiliate routes
Choose AI credits, free allowances, startup, student or affiliate routes with OpenAI eligibility, expiry checks and official registration links.

A search for free AI tokens can lead to model usage units, a service-credit balance, a reviewed grant or a referral reward. This guide helps you identify the benefit before registering. The examples have checked official sources; they are not exhaustive worldwide coverage or a promise that applicants from every country will qualify.

Use the filterable program directory to inspect benefit types and source status. Its publication timestamp describes the site’s last successful update; the source-check timestamp describes when provider documentation was inspected. Neither substitutes for reading current terms when you apply.
Identify the benefit type first
An ordinary free allowance may be limited by month, request rate, model or feature. Exhausting it does not automatically create a grant. A one-time trial credit can end after its period or balance runs out without renewing monthly.
Startup and education grants require the correct applicant, an application or verification. Maximum amounts often describe a program tier, not an immediately awarded balance. Referral credits depend on valid activity by a referred person; duplicate accounts, false identities and self-referrals are not legitimate ways to multiply allowances.
Cash affiliate commission is a separate commercial relationship with new-customer definitions, attribution and payment conditions. It does not itself provide API tokens. Builders should begin with technical requirements; publishers teaching purchasing decisions can use the international affiliate comparison to choose a suitable program type.
Here, AI tokens mean usage units when the source discusses a model, and credits mean the provider’s service balance or units. These are not cryptocurrency, promised withdrawable cash or universally interchangeable units. Database, search or GPU credits do not automatically become language-model tokens.
OpenAI student and maintainer benefits have different eligibility
The OpenAI student page offers 2,500 ChatGPT credits, equivalent to US$100, for Codex. They are not API credits. Applicants must currently attend a degree-granting university in the US or Canada and reside in the US or Canada when claiming. Successful verification is required, with one offer per student. Credits expire 12 months after the grant date.
The public entry is the Codex student offer linked by that source. Signing in and beginning verification does not establish an award. Students outside the stated enrollment or residence criteria cannot infer eligibility from this offer. Do not substitute another country or borrow an identity.
Codex for Open Source is a different program for eligible maintainers, including six months of ChatGPT Pro with Codex and reviewed API or security benefits. The source does not establish one universal API-credit amount. A public repository alone does not prove maintainer eligibility or acceptance.
Do not label these benefits free tokens for everyone. Select the correct applicant category, tool and balance type. ChatGPT, API and program benefits are not one automatically interchangeable wallet.
Compare legitimate starting routes
| Need | Official-source example | Conditions that belong beside the number |
|---|---|---|
| Eligible student | OpenAI: 2,500 ChatGPT credits | US/Canada verification, Codex rather than API; 12-month expiry |
| API evaluation | Cohere: 1,000 calls monthly | Evaluation keys; endpoint/model limits; not a startup grant |
| Small inference test | Hugging Face: US$0.10 monthly for free users | Subject to change; Hugging Face routing; custom provider keys do not spend this balance |
| Approved startup | Anthropic: US$1,000 Claude API credits | Six-month expiry; first-party API; additional VC offer has separate conditions |
| Image/video builder | fal: starts at US$1,000, packs up to US$5,000 | Approval required; progression depends on fal spend and program criteria |
| Data-collection tools | Firecrawl: 1,000 free credits monthly | Request type affects usage; credits are not LLM tokens |
| Voice agents | LiveKit: 1,000 free agent-session minutes monthly | Not unlimited STT, TTS, LLM or third-party costs |
These examples are not value rankings. A small allowance on the correct endpoint may be more useful than a large startup ceiling for which you do not qualify. Read the program source before changing infrastructure to follow a headline benefit.
Startup support: check tiers and uncovered costs
Google Cloud and AWS Activate have tracks tied to stage and partner relationships. A maximum is not a flat award to every founder. Google benefits use year-specific support percentages and tier ceilings. Some AWS routes require an Activate Provider Org ID and suitable account conditions. Do not borrow another company’s identifier.
Baseten distinguishes up to US$25,000 Dedicated Inference/Training from up to US$2,500 Model API credits. They are separate scopes rather than a balance usable on every product. Criteria include an AI-core product, Seed-to-Series-A stage, company age under five years and no previous Baseten credits. The official application provides an entry for eligible applicants, not guaranteed acceptance.
You.com’s startup grant advertises up to US$1,000 API credit with six-month expiry, targeting teams meeting criteria such as fewer than 25 employees, pre-seed through Series A, and an AI-native product or LLM workflow. Do not automatically add other signup promotions to this maximum without permission to combine them.
Vast.ai matches verified compute spend dollar for dollar within an agreed cap. It requires spending first rather than an upfront giveaway. The Resemble builder grant supports AI-detection use cases with new-customer conditions; do not infer that every voice feature is covered.
Calculate uncovered services and expiry before committing. A large temporary balance does not remove post-program costs. An expiring balance may require reducing tests or switching to a funded budget.
Prepare and follow the public registration route
- Choose the need: API testing, startup support, student verification, open-source maintenance or affiliate publishing.
- Open official documentation and check for a current entry route. A 404, homepage redirect or login page alone does not prove an offer is open.
- Check residence, school, company age, funding stage, partner connection and previous credits. An unclear criterion is a question to resolve, not one to mark as satisfied.
- Prepare truthful information: appropriate email, site or repository, use case, lawful resources and expected scope. Supply sensitive documents only through the official portal when requested.
- Read award size, service scope, start and expiry rules, then submit your own application or create the appropriate account. This guide does not apply or contact the provider for you.
- After acceptance, record the actual balance, grant date, expiry and applicable terms. Plan tests using granted credit rather than an unawarded maximum.
Use ordinary verification and CAPTCHA flows. Duplicate accounts, false identity and self-referral are not legitimate credit strategies.
Track expiry and content rights
A private tracking sheet can record provider, benefit type, eligible service, unit, awarded balance, reset or expiry date and owner. Record excess-use costs separately so the team does not assume a credit covers everything. This is an organizational suggestion, not a vendor dashboard screenshot.
For images, video, music and voice, credits cover permitted service usage. They do not replace rights to inputs, recordings, voices or another person’s data. Affiliate acceptance also does not authorize every banner or output for every use. Read asset licensing before publishing.
Test a small workflow against explicit criteria: output quality, human corrections, consumption and paid cost after the benefit ends. Do not promise trial credit will support production or that all generated content has unrestricted commercial rights.
Decision checklist before applying
- Working individually and testing? Choose a free allowance or trial credit and record its expiry and product limits.
- Eligible startup or student? Read territory, organization and approval requirements before applying for a grant.
- Earning through referrals? Distinguish cash affiliate commission from usage credit; a product account does not establish affiliate approval.
Frequently asked questions
Are AI credits cash or cryptocurrency?
In these examples, credits are service-use rights under provider conditions, not promised withdrawable cash or cryptocurrency tokens.
Does OpenAI give every student 2,500 API tokens?
No. The source offers 2,500 ChatGPT credits for Codex to verified eligible US/Canadian students; they are not API credits.
Is a maximum startup award guaranteed?
No. The actual award depends on tier, application, approval, service scope and terms; a maximum is not a guaranteed balance.
Does every free plan renew monthly?
No. Monthly renewal requires source confirmation. One-time trials, startup grants and referral credits have different rules.
