How should you begin?

Choose the required task, read the official eligibility conditions and check your account balance before increasing usage.

Dify’s education page, reviewed on 7 October 2026, says eligible verified users receive Yearly Professional access at no cost. The message allowance is only 200 credits in total, with no monthly reset, matching Sandbox. The ordinary paid Professional quota must not be imported into education. Publisher: SmartDealIndex. This guide is based on documents; no account or verification request was submitted. Independent editorial review is pending. Links are ordinary official URLs.

Check all eligibility conditions

The official education page requires applicants to be at least eighteen, currently enrolled at an educational institution or employed there as a teacher or school administrator, and using an active institution-issued email linked to their Dify account. Personal addresses and alumni-only addresses do not qualify for a new application.

The provider may ask for proof of current enrollment or employment. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee approval: Dify also evaluates email domains and may restrict new applications from a domain with verification or abuse concerns. A domain restriction does not establish an individually approved exception.

Use your own identity and real institution address. Do not borrow another person’s student account, create extra accounts or invent a current affiliation. A school-issued address should be available to you legitimately and remain connected to the same account used for verification.

Understand access and message credit separately

The page says education workspaces include Professional features and resource entitlements except message credits. Their allowance remains 200 total credits without a monthly reset. Free access to a paid-tier feature set does not establish the ordinary paid plan’s monthly model-credit quota.

A message credit is not a dollar or a universal model-token count. The checked sources did not establish consumption for every possible workflow. Plan a small learning exercise and inspect actual usage rather than assuming each complex workflow consumes exactly one unit.

Once the included credits are exhausted, the provider says models can continue through your own model-provider API key. That can create a separate provider bill. A free education workspace does not make every external inference service free.

Follow the official verification route

  1. Read the current education criteria and confirm that your role, age and active email meet them.
  2. Open education verification from the official page. The logged-in form and individual review flow were not inspected here.
  3. Sign in using the account linked to your genuine institution-issued email and follow current instructions.
  4. Provide only accurate enrollment or employment information if requested. SmartDealIndex has not submitted documents on your behalf.
  5. Wait for the provider’s decision. Do not describe the workspace as verified until the account confirms it.
  6. After acceptance, inspect the plan, message balance, resource limits and conditions affecting continued eligibility.

Country availability, account-specific verification and an exact review deadline were not established. A public verification route does not prove that every institution or email domain will be accepted.

Prepare a manageable learning workflow

Choose one task that fits your course or research: summarize authorized public material, answer questions from a small permitted reference collection, or inspect a simple agent workflow. Define expected behavior and cases where the output needs human correction. These are proposed exercises, not results tested by SmartDealIndex.

Use a compact dataset and inspect each result before increasing volume. Record the workflow version, selected provider, input identifier and message consumption. If a workflow uses several model steps, check its observed usage instead of treating the interface’s final response as a single free operation.

Use institution-approved material and review data permissions before uploading. Provider descriptions about education or compliance do not by themselves approve a particular student-record, confidential-data or customer-data use case. This guide does not certify legal compliance for an institution.

Keep community deployment separate

The page also presents Community Edition as free, self-hosted software for schools. That is a different deployment route from the hosted education offer. It does not include a verified free cloud-hosting or external-inference grant. Budget infrastructure, administration and model usage separately if evaluating self-hosting.

For hosted education, keep credentials secure when adding your own provider key after the allowance ends. Decide who controls the key and pays its usage. Do not expose it in class screenshots or share another person’s billable account without permission.

Handle email changes and graduation carefully

Already-verified users may keep their status after graduation or leaving the institution if the original verified address remains active, unchanged and linked to the same account. This is a continuation rule for existing verified users. It does not make an alumni-only address eligible for a new application or replacement verification.

The page says benefits are non-transferable and changing account email may revoke status. A replacement address does not automatically inherit it. Read the current rules before changing account settings, and do not claim a guaranteed lifetime or automatic annual renewal beyond what the account confirms.

The E2B guide has narrower research-affiliation criteria for compute grants. The global overview separates those grants from education plan access.

Frequently asked questions

Does education include 5,000 credits every month?

No. The education FAQ specifies 200 total message credits with no monthly reset, despite Professional feature access.

Can I apply with a personal or alumni-only email?

The page excludes those addresses for new applications and requires an active institution-issued address for a current eligible role.

Does using my own provider key remain free?

No universal free inference was established. Your model provider’s billing applies separately.

Does a new email automatically keep verification?

No. Benefits are tied to the verified person and address; changing email may revoke status.
